Terms of Service

1. About BuildTrust AI

BuildTrust AI ("we", "us", "BuildTrust") provides software tools for homeowners, property managers, investors, and contractors to plan projects, generate contracts, manage payments and escrow, store warranties, and coordinate work. These Terms govern your access to and use of our website and services (the "Service").

2. Not legal, financial, or construction advice

The Service includes AI-generated contracts, scope language, pricing benchmarks, and state-specific information. This is general information, not legal, financial, engineering, or construction advice. Always have important contracts reviewed by a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction before signing.

3. Accounts

You must be 18 or older to create an account. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized access.

4. Payments, subscriptions, refunds & cancellation

Payments. Payments are processed by Stripe under their terms. BuildTrust facilitates the workflow but is not a bank, escrow agent of record, or party to your underlying contract with a homeowner or contractor.

Subscriptions. Paid plans renew automatically on a monthly or annual basis until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you retain access until then.

Refunds. Subscription fees are generally non-refundable. We will issue a prorated refund at our discretion for: (a) a duplicate charge, (b) a charge after a confirmed cancellation, or (c) a documented Service outage that materially prevented use for more than 72 consecutive hours. Refund requests must be sent to billing@buildtrustai.com within 30 days of the charge.

Project payments between users. Money sent between homeowners and contractors through the Service is governed by the contract they create. BuildTrust is not responsible for disputes over workmanship, scope, or completion — use the in-app dispute and complaint tools, or pursue remedies under your contract and applicable law.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of files, photos, messages, and contract content you upload. You grant us a limited license to host, display, and process that content to provide the Service, including running AI analysis you request.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to break the law, infringe others' rights, harass other users, send spam, attempt to bypass security or rate limits, or misuse AI features (including generating false legal documents to deceive others).

7. Termination

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. We will give you a reasonable opportunity to export your data where feasible.

8. Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent allowed by law, BuildTrust is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability is capped at the greater of $100 or amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
